MyTeksi Penang

In a rapid expansion move, MyTeksi just announced that is has expanded its coverage to now cover Penang. Penang has been notorious for closing one eye on almost all metered taxi cabs not using their meters during rides, which often meant passengers have to pay an exorbitant amount of cash for just a short trip. Hopefully as MyTeksi becomes more prevalent throughout the state, visitors without cars can now enjoy a more reasonable fees to tour around the island.

To celebrate the launch, MyTeksi is inviting all Penangites to be a beta tester, and stand a chance to win an Apple iPhone 5c in the process.

Between April 21st and May 31st 2014, which is the contest period, book a taxi in Penang, and you’ll be automatically entered into MyTeksi’s lucky draw contest. The only two steps required to enter, is just to download the mobile app, and book a ride. MyTeksi mobile apps are available in all four major mobile platforms:

One successful booking will entitle you to five entries into the lucky draw. Even if the booking is unsuccessful, you’ll still be entered into the contest as a single draw. However, if the booking is canceled by you or the driver, the entry will be disqualified. The winner will be announced the following week after May 31st on MyTeksi’s Facebook and Twitter pages. Terms and conditions apply.

MyTeksi is a homegrown, Malaysian startup that was just launched back in June of 2012, and has since expanded to Klang Valley, Negeri Sembilan, Johor Bahru, Kuching, and now, Penang. The service is also available regionally in the Philippines (Manila), Thailand (Bangkok), and Singapore, where it is known as GrabTaxi there.
